MINISTRY INTRODUCTION

Bringing Hope Through Jesus Christ

More than 20 lakh Sourashtra people are living across 46 different regions throughout Tamil Nadu. Among them, only a small number have come to know Jesus Christ.

With a burden for the salvation and spiritual growth of Sourashtra communities, Sourashtra Evangelical Mission was established to proclaim the Gospel and strengthen believers in Christ.

Nearly 1000 Sourashtra people have accepted Christ, and to support Sourashtra Christians spiritually, a church was established in Thanjavur.

The ministry was officially registered in the year 2014 and has been faithfully serving for more than 12 years through evangelism, prayer ministry, counseling, fasting prayer, and community outreach.

Sourashtra Evangelical Mission continues to reach families and communities with the love, hope, and saving message of Jesus Christ.

HISTORY & MINISTRY JOURNEY

Journey of Sourashtra People & Mission Work

Sourashtra Evangelical Mission was founded with a burden to bring the love of Jesus Christ among Sourashtra communities through Gospel ministry, prayer, compassion, and social care.

Ancient Period
The Sourashtra people originally belonged to the Sourashtra region of North India and were known for their rich culture, language, and weaving profession.
1024 AD
Due to invasions and political instability, many Sourashtra families migrated toward South India seeking safety and stability.
Vijayanagara Era
During the Vijayanagara Empire period, Sourashtra communities settled in different regions of Tamil Nadu and continued their traditional weaving work.
Madurai Settlement
Many Sourashtra people settled in Madurai and nearby districts, preserving their language, culture, traditions, and community identity.
Ministry Burden
Seeing the spiritual and social needs among the people, a burden arose to proclaim the Gospel and bring spiritual revival among Sourashtra families.
Evangelism
The ministry began reaching villages and communities through prayer meetings, Gospel sharing, fasting prayer, counseling, and house visits.
Compassion Ministry
Support was extended to poor families, widows, struggling people, and children through practical care and spiritual encouragement.
Future Vision
The mission prayerfully desires to establish old age care, educational support, residential facilities for students, interest-free community assistance, and housing support for needy families.
SOURASHTRA HERITAGE

Traditional Weaving Culture

The Sourashtra community is widely known for its traditional weaving skills and textile craftsmanship preserved through generations across Tamil Nadu.

This weaving heritage represents the dedication, hard work, and cultural identity of the Sourashtra people for many generations. Through this traditional weaving work, many families built their livelihood while preserving the cultural identity of the Sourashtra people across Tamil Nadu.

FOUNDER TESTIMONY

A Journey From Darkness To Light

S.N. Ravichandren was born into an orthodox Hindu family in Thanjavur in 1962. During his younger days, he struggled with sinful habits, addiction, smoking, and a worldly lifestyle. Though he searched for peace and freedom through religion and personal efforts, true transformation never came.

Through the prayers and witness of his younger brother, he came to know about Jesus Christ. Initially, he strongly opposed Christianity and even argued against believers. However, everything changed after reading the book “The Death of a Guru.”

The truth about Jesus Christ deeply touched his heart. He realized that only Jesus could truly forgive sins, deliver people from bondage, and give lasting peace. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and experienced complete transformation in life.

Even though he faced opposition, mockery, rejection, and persecution from relatives and society, he continued to follow Christ faithfully with love and prayer.

With a burden for the salvation of Sourashtra people, he dedicated his life to Gospel ministry, prayer, counseling, and spiritual outreach among communities across Tamil Nadu.
